WHO WE ARE

Young Lions United was born in 2025 from a school project — and became something much bigger.Henri van Pottelsberghe from Aalter had dreamed of running his own football club since he was five. When his economics class called for an exam project, he didn't write a business plan. He built a club.
Today, Young Lions United is a full squad of 14-year-olds from regional clubs across the East Flanders area — players from KV Eendracht Aalter, SK Bellem, KVC Wingene and KSK Lovendegem, united by one thing: the drive to grow.
The name says it all. Young — because we're just getting started. Lions — because we play with courage and character. United — because this club runs on friendship, connection, and diversity.

THE TEAM

Our players still compete for their home clubs on Saturdays. Young Lions United gives them something extra — more game time, more training, and a group of friends who push each other to the next level.
We train roughly three times a month and play friendly matches on Sundays. Our coach is Sarkodie Foley, who played in the youth ranks of Sparta Rotterdam in the Dutch Eredivisie. His experience on the pitch — and his Ghanaian roots — shape everything we do.

Young Lions United is proud to be part of the Razna Sports Academy — an organisation built on one core belief: every young person deserves a chance to develop, grow, and belong through sport.
Razna Sports Academy creates environments where talent meets opportunity. Young Lions United lives that philosophy on the pitch — giving motivated young players a place to play more, train more, and become more, regardless of where they come from or which club they already play for.
Sport as a vehicle for development. That's what Razna stands for. That's what we stand for.

BEYOND THE PITCH

Football is more than winning. We believe that — and we act on it.
Through our partnership with Kajanya FC, a youth club near Accra, Ghana, we collect second-hand computers and football kits and send them directly to young players who don't have the opportunities we do in Belgium. It's a small gesture with a real impact, and it's a core part of who we are.

  • Expand into multiple age categories
  • Compete in international tournaments
  • Build the Young Lions Academy
